Are you a star gazer? The known as Orion’s belt. God spoke of these in his discourse to Job near the end of the Bible’s oldest book.
Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka are the three stars in Orion's belt. In some cultures, they are known as 'The Three Marys' or 'The Three Kings.’
As the Lord is readying to revisit Job’s tragedy and give him more than he ever had, he reminds Job of who he is talking to about his life. God asks Job, “Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion?” The answer is obviously not.
Humans cannot move or place stars.
But God has!
Today, you may be facing a circumstance, challenge, conundrum, or maybe a tragedy. You may be overwhelmed, at a loss, unable to move the needle.
With every cell in my constitution, I believe that we, just like Job, realize that when we can't…
God can.
God loves.
God has.
God will.
Here's a prayer for us that have come to the end of our strength of mind, heart, and spirit today. It comes from the lips of the woman in this story from Mark’s biography of Jesus.
“Now, in the crowd that day was a woman who had suffered horribly from continual bleeding for twelve years. She had endured a great deal under the care of various doctors, yet in spite of spending all she had on their treatments, she was getting worse instead of better. When she heard about Jesus’ healing power, she pushed through the crowd and came up from behind him and touched his prayer shawl. For she kept saying to herself, “If I could touch even his clothes, I know I will be healed.” As soon as her hand touched him, her bleeding immediately stopped! She knew it, for she could feel her body instantly being healed of her disease!”
Our prayer for what seems beyond our realm of possibility is the same, “Father, I reach for the presence and power of Jesus to flow I to my life, for when I touch Him, I KNOW I’ll be healed (wholeness will come.)”
He says back, and this is where we have to let go of it and give it to him, He is ever present. He is ‘touched’ with the feeling of our weakness & inability. When we are weak, He is strong.
In the words of Peter, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, [John 3:30] casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”
Just realize, decide, trust, & pray… today.
